2017-18 Season Auditions

WHAT: Auditions for our 2017-18 productions of:

FINIAN’S RAINBOW by E.Y. Harburg, Fred Saidy & Burton Lane (1st reh 8/15/17; opens 9/1/17; closes 9/17/17)

CASA VALENTINA by Harvey Fierstein (1st reh 10/11/17; opens 11/3/17; closes 11/20/17)

WHO: Equity and non-Equity actors, actor/singers and singer/actors. For FINIAN’S, some characters must dance.

Equity performers:

  • Monday, March 27 5:30-6:30pm AEA by appointment
  • Tuesday, March 28 5:30-6:30pm AEA by appointment
  • Wednesday, March 29 5:30-6:30pm AEA by appointment


Non-Equity performers:

  • Monday, March 27 6:30-8:30pm non-AEA open call
  • Tuesday, March 28 6:30-8:30pm non-AEA open call
  • Wednesday, March 29 6:30-8:30pm non-AEA open call

WHERE: 4501 Genessee St., Kansas City, MO 64111 (UMKC Theatre)

HOW for Equity performers: Email casting@spinningtreetheatre.com with your preferred audition date. (If you are unable to attend the Equity times on all dates, we will schedule your appointment during the non-Equity auditions.) Attach your headshot and resumé. You will receive a reply email with your audition date and time.

HOW for non-Equity performers(Spinning Tree does participate in the EMC program; however, if you are EMC, your status is non-Equity.) There are no appointments for non-Equity performers. Arrive no more than 15 minutes before the non-Equity start time on your preferred audition date and sign-in with monitor. First come, first seen. Do not arrive later than 8:15pm. No phone calls, please. Bring 2 copies of 8×10 headshot/resumé, stapled back-to-back.

WHAT TO PREPARE for FINIAN’S: Please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre selection reflecting the style of the piece. An accompanist will be provided. Bring sheet music in your key (no recorded music; no a cappella singing). You may be asked to read from the script or sing from the score. Note: it is always a good idea to have an additional selection prepared in case you are asked.

WHAT TO PREPARE for CASA: A one-minute monologue reflecting the style of the piece. You may be asked to read from the script.



Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

We are currently unable to provide housing for out of town actors. Local hires only.

Video submissions will not be accepted at this time.
