Spinning Tree Theatre proudly announces our 5th season of plays and musicals



Book by Arthur Laurents. Music by Leonard Bernstein. Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim.

Spinning Tree founders Michael Grayman and Andy Parkhurst have a rich history with the show (a combined 9 professional productions, including the 40th anniversary Broadway tour supervised by Jerome Robbins and Arthur Laurents), and are delighted to reproduce the original Jerome Robbins choreography with an all-local professional cast.

Adapted by Jeffrey Hatcher, from the story by Henry James.

Kansas City premiere! A young governess journeys to a lonely English manor house to care for two recently orphaned children, and realizes that they are not alone. Are they being haunted by ghosts, or by her fevered imagination? James’ 1898 gothic thriller is brought to life with two of Kansas City’s finest actors in a “dazzling act of the imagination” (The New York Times).

Kansas City professional premiere! Evan Goldman just moved from NYC to small-town Indiana and has to deal with his parents’ divorce and his Bar Mitzvah, all while navigating the complicated social circles of a new school. Featuring 13 of Kansas City’s brightest stars-to-be in an explosive and heart-warming evening of song and dance.
