Auditions are by appointment only on Saturday September 14, 1:30-2:30pm.
Preparation:
Please prepare 16-32 measures of a song in the style of the show. It is recommended you have at least one additional (and contrasting) selection prepared in case you are asked. An accompanist will be provided. No a cappella or singing to tracks. If you have a headshot/resumé, please bring a couple copies.
You may be asked to stay and read from the script between 2:00-2:30pm.

BUBBLE BOY is scheduled to rehearse after school for 3-4 hours per day Monday-Friday, and for 4 hours on Saturday. Our rehearsals and performances are at Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center, 8788 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS.

Jimmy Livingston was born without immunities and has spent his entire life confined inside a plastic bubble room. Enter Chloe, the girl next door, who becomes his friend and steals his heart. When she leaves town to get married, Jimmy travels cross-country in a homemade bubble suit in order to stop thewedding and finally tell her how he feels. Along the laugh-filled journey he deals with a crazy cult, a biker gang, a dead cow, and a controlling mother who will stop at nothing to get him back in the bubble.
During the school year:
BUBBLE BOY, YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL and FIRST GENERATION will rehearse after school for 3-4 hours per day Monday-Friday, and for 4 hours on Saturday.
During the summer:
THE ALIEN LOGS OF SUPER JEWELS will rehearse during the day (i.e., 10:00am-3:00pm) for the 1st two weeks. During tech/dress week, rehearsals will shift to evenings.
Spinning Tree offers tuition-free professional-level theatrical opportunities onstage and off to all Kansas City metro area young artists.
There is no scholarship process and we don't ask to see your finances.
We write the grant applications and work year-round to secure individual donations so that your family can experience the arts without a financial burden.
Our casts are relatively small, usually 6-12! There are no extras on the Spinning Tree stage. Each young artist is invited to participate at the height of their ability and interest.
The smaller cast size helps us give each artist the chance to shine, and to offer professional training that makes Spinning Tree artists stronger, more prepared, and more confident.
